CYL Volleyball League

Club Youth League (CYL) was founded by a consortium of local volleyball clubs to give recreational age players a club-level option for training and competition in volleyball. While the clubs involved in the program are all USAV clubs, this program and all its events are unaffiliated with USA Volleyball.

The program is for athletes in 5th – 8th grade.

  • Girls in 6th-8th grade are eligible to try out. Girls in 5th grade may try out but will have to play on a 6th-8th grade team.
  • Boys in 5th-7th grade are eligible to try out but must play one year up.

 

The 2024 season is eight weeks, running from September 6th to October 8th

There will be one 1.5-hour practice each week on Fridays from 5:00 to 6:30pm

 

The season has six tournament dates, the last of which comprise a two-day tournament the last weekend of October:

  • Sep 28th
  • Oct 5th
  • Oct 12th
  • Oct 19th
  • Oct 26th & 27th

Each date will have a minimum of 2 games, and Achieve will be a host site on some Saturdays during the season.

On the final Saturday of the month, the teams who have posted to best records will play in a medal tournament. All other teams will play in the final tournament of the season.

 

Teams will be lead by qualified, paid club coaches.

 

Cost: $475/player, which includes:

  • Team entry fee into tournaments
  • One Achieve Volleyball T-Shirt/Jersey
  • Practices
  • Invaluable prep for high school volleyball

CYL Volleyball League – Staff Bios

Sydney Ottosen

Sydney has been playing volleyball for 14 years and has coached for 4 years. Sydney played Division II volleyball at Bloomfield College as an outside hitter and a libero. She is the head Freshman team coach at Eaglecrest High School and was the head Sophomore coach at Cherokee Trail last year. Sydney is the Court Program Manager at Achieve Sports. When not coaching or playing grass volleyball, Sydney likes to do outdoor activities such as Skiing, hiking, and walking her black lab, Wrigley.
